Aggies Take Down Razorbacks on Friday Night

No. 36 Arkansas men’s tennis started a three-match road streak in Texas on Friday night and fell 4-1 to the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies.

The Razorbacks (15-9, 3-7) struck first as No. 44 Eric Padgham and Ben Weintraub got a big 6-2 doubles win over No.13 Theo Papamalamis and Togan Tokac. But the Aggies (14-7, 7-3) fired back, and No. 40 Alex Frusina and Kholo Montsi took down No. 64 Connor Smillie and Jakub Vrba, 6-4. Markus Molder and Lathan Skrobarcek defeated Brendan Boland and Dmitry Kopilevich by the same score.

In singles, Gabriel Elicha Navas evened things up early with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Molder. The Aggies then got three straight victories: No. 30 Papamalamis over No. 18 Jakub Vrba 6-1, 6-4, Togan 6-4, 6-2 over Arsène Pougault, and No. 68 Frusina 6-2, 6-4 over Weintraub.

The Hogs returns to action on Sunday afternoon for a pair of contests in Austin, Texas. First up, the Razorbacks face the No. 3 Texas Longhorns at 1 p.m. and they conclude the road trip against the University of Incarnate Word at Westwood Country Club at 6 p.m.
