Allison earns all-region honor

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas junior Amy Allison earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region honorable mention. Allison, a Jenks, Okla., native paced Arkansas and the Southeastern Conference in blocking and finished the regular season ranked second in the nation in blocks per game. "Amy is certainly a leader for us, particularly in the last half of the season, said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. "It’s a great honor for her to be recognized as one of the better middles in the region." Allison’s honor came on the heels of her first-ever SEC selection. She and the Lady’Backs won a share of their 11th SEC Western Division title and reached the second round of the conference tournament before a thrilling, five-game loss against fourth-ranked Florida to be eliminated. Allison and the Lady’Backs were rewarded with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament the following week where they again reached the second round before falling at Missouri to the No. 10 Tigers.
