Aloy Named to Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award Watch List
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Wehiwa Aloy has landed on the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award. The 2025 watch list for the award was released by the College Baseball Foundation on Friday, April 18.
The Razorback infielder is one of 100 players on the watch list for the award honoring the nation’s top shortstop. The award, which will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year, is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977-80 and died of leukemia at the age of 27.
Aloy is slashing a team-leading .379/.459/.736 with a team-high 16 home runs and 48 RBI through 43 games this season. The Wailuku, Hawai’I, native currently leads the Hogs in nearly every major offensive category, including batting average (.379), slugging (.736), runs (61), hits (69), doubles (15), home runs (16), extra-base hits (32) and total bases (134).
He is also one of six shortstops on the watch list to have already earned distinction as a Brooks Wallace Award weekly honoree this season. Aloy was recognized as the Brooks Wallace Award Shortstop of the Week on March 25 after leading the Razorbacks to a perfect 5-0 week, including an SEC weekend series sweep over South Carolina.
