Apalos Edwards, NCAA triple jump bronze medalist, joins Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE – NCAA Outdoor triple jump bronze medalist Apalos Edwards has signed to transfer to the Razorbacks from LSU and will join the Arkansas program for the 2023-24 season.

Edwards, who is from Kingston, Jamaica, where he competed at Jamaica College high school, will join a crew of fellow Jamaicans currently competing with the Razorbacks.

Amid two seasons at LSU, Edwards produced a pair of first-team All-America honors and a pair of SEC medals in the triple jump. Edwards finished third in the triple jump at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor meet after finishing fifth indoors.

Edwards has scored nine times during SEC competition, collecting silver outdoors and bronze indoors in the triple jump over the past two seasons.

Edwards set his overall career best of 55-3 (16.84) indoors in Fayetteville during the 2023 SEC Indoor meet. He produced the mark in the opening round and finished third.

In the 2022 NCAA Outdoor meet, Edwards set an outdoor career best of 53-9.25 (16.39) on his first attempt. During the 2022 SEC Outdoor meet, a last round then PR of 53-3.5 (16.24) moved him into the silver medal position.

In high school, Edwards won the 2019 Jamaica U20 triple jump title, placed second at the Penn Relays and third at the Carifta Games. He represented Jamaica in the 2019 Pan Am U20 Championships. In 2018, Edwards competed at the Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires.
