Arkansas Adds Bri Ellis

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas softball head coach Courtney Deifel has announced the signing of Bri Ellis to the roster for 2024. Ellis, the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, will be immediately eligible with two years of eligibility remaining.

Ellis arrives to the Razorbacks after two dominant seasons at Auburn. With 117 career starts to her name, Ellis brings a career slash line of .288/.685/.398 along with 96 RBI, 87 hits and 34 home runs. Ellis also proved to be an integral part of Auburn’s defense at first base, carrying a .989 career fielding percentage which stands sixth in Auburn’s all-time program history.

As a sophomore in 2023, Ellis was one of two Tigers to start all 62 games and held a .275 batting average, .601 slugging percentage and .415 on-base percentage behind 42 hits, 47 RBI and 14 home runs. Ellis led Auburn in multiple offensive categories, including home runs (14), RBI (47), total bases (92), slugging percentage (.601), HBP (7) and sacrifice flies. Ellis was named SEC Player of the Week (Feb. 27) and the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week (Feb. 28) earlier in the season.

During her breakout freshman campaign in 2022, Ellis boasted one of the most decorated seasons by an Auburn freshman. Slashing .302/.772/.378 with 45 hits, 49 RBI and 20 home runs, Ellis shattered the program’s freshman home run record and hit the second-most home runs in single-season program history. Additionally, her home run total ranked third in the SEC and 13th nationally. A difference-maker in the clean-up spot, Ellis led Auburn in home runs (20), RBI (49), total bases (115) and slugging percentage (.772). In addition to claiming SEC Freshman of the Year and All-SEC Second Team honors, Ellis was nabbed a Top 10 Finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year.

The Hogs are coming off their third consecutive 40-win season and a top-four SEC finish along with the program’s sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. Earning the No. 11 national seed, all four of the program’s national seeds have been accumulated under Deifel.
