Arkansas breaks pair of SEC records, finishes tied for sixth
AUBURN – Arkansas closed out the SEC Outdoor Championships with a 4 x 400m relay meet record victory of 3 minutes, 20.04 seconds while Sanu Jallow-Lockhart finally claimed her first conference title in the 800m with a UA and meet record time of 1 minute, 58.82 seconds.
The Razorback foursome of Sanaria Butler, Analisse Batista, Kaylyn Brown and Jallow-Lockhart broke the SEC meet record of 3:21.93 set by Kentucky in 2022. Finishing behind Arkansas were Georgia (3:22.54), Tennessee (3:22.73), and South Carolina (3:25.09).
Arkansas’ time of 3:20.04 is the current world leader for 2026, moving ahead of a 3:20.96 set by Norway during the World Athletics Relays earlier this month.
Butler and Batista combined for a 800m split of 1:40.65 and were followed by a 49.92 for Brown while Jallow-Lockhart finished with a 49.47.
In the 800m, the victory for Jallow-Lockhart earned her 50 points in her career at indoor and outdoor SEC meets. Her first individual gold medal followed five silver medal performances.
Overall, Arkansas tied for sixth place in team scoring with Texas A&M at 58.5 points. Florida won the team title with 107 points over Alabama (91.5) and Georgia (90). South Carolina (62) and Kentucky (61) placed fourth and fifth.
Jallow-Lockhart improved her previous UA record of 1:59.29 and moves to No. 4 on the collegiate all-time list. She bettered the SEC meet record of 1:58.89 set by LSU’s Michaela Rose.
Batista placed fifth in the 800m with a career best of 2:00.31 that ranks No. 2 on the UA all-time list while freshman Makenna Herbst finished eighth with a 2:01.74 that ranks No. 4 on the UA all-time list.
Brown placed second in the 400m with a 49.54 with Butler third in 50.22. Georgia’s Dejanea Oakley won the race in 48.92, the second fastest time in collegiate history and broke the SEC meet record of 49.13 set by Razorback Britton Wilson in 2023.
In the 400m hurdles the Razorbacks placed fifth and sixth with the tandem of Saira Price, who generated a career best 55.27 that ranks No. 3 on the UA all-time list, and freshman Morgan Herbst, who moves to No. 8 on the UA all-time list with a 56.50.
