
Arkansas Completes Opening Day of Play at ITA All-American Championships
TULSA, Okla. – Seven members of the Arkansas men’s tennis team finished the opening day of the ITA All-American Championships today at Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Razorbacks had four players competing in the prequalifying singles draw with Ben Weintraub earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Nemanja Stefanovic (Mercer) and Gabriel Elicha Navas fighting from behind to secure a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Jip van Assendelft (Indiana). The Hogs had two doubles teams take part in the prequalifying doubles draw on Saturday with Brendan Boland playing alongside Marino Jakic while Lukas Palovic and Arsène Pougault teamed up to begin their run in Tulsa. Boland/Jakic came up just shy of a win in their Round of 32 match, falling to Andre/Landau (Indiana) in two hard-fought sets. The duo is scheduled to play tomorrow at 4:30 p.m CT against Camus/Manning (NC State). Palovic/Pougault dropped their opening match at the ITA All-American Championships to Cherie Ligniere/Mesarovic (Clemson), 4-6, 4-6. The tandem is set to compete again tomorrow at 4:30 p.m CT as they face Dinh Viet/Kruger (Weber State).
