Arkansas Continues Homestand with Razorback Rumble

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks continue their homestand with a five-game slate at the Razorback Rumble on March 8-10 at Bogle Park. The Hogs open the weekend Friday with a doubleheader against South Alabama and Saint Francis, starting at 4:45 p.m. on SEC Network+. Game two vs. the Friars is set for 7 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule features another doubleheader against Northern Iowa and South Alabama at 4:45 and 7 p.m. on SEC Network+. Arkansas caps the weekend with a 12:15 p.m. duel Sunday vs. Northern Iowa. The game will not be available to stream.

Leading Off

  • The Razorbacks are coming off a 4-1 weekend at the Wooo Pig Classic on Feb. 29-March 3.
  • Arkansas concluded the weekend with a 6-5 (8 inn.) win against SEMO on March 3, marking the Hogs’ first extra-innings win since their 2-1 (10 inn.) triumph at Alabama on March 20, 2023.

History Lesson

  • Arkansas and South Alabama will meet for the first time in history over the weekend.
  • The Razorbacks are 2-0 all-time against St. Francis. The two programs last met in 2018 in Fayetteville. Arkansas defeated the Friars in both meetings, 8-3 and 4-3.
  • Arkansas owns the all-time series vs. Northern Iowa, 5-4, including a 5-2 mark at home. The Razorbacks and Panthers will meet for the first time since the 2016 season.

Deifel Closing in on 300 Career Wins at Arkansas         

  • Head coach Courtney Deifel has a 295-151 record as Arkansas’ skipper. Deifel is five wins away from capturing her 300th career win as head coach at Arkansas. Deifel became the program’s all-time wins leader in 2023 when Arkansas defeated No. 22 Louisiana 7-6 on Feb. 18. Deifel bested former Razorback head coach Carrie Dever-Boaz’s (1997-2004) 244 career wins at helm.

  • This season, Reagan Johnson ranks second in the conference and 10th nationally in hits with 32 to her name.
  • Arkansas center fielder Reagan Johnson returns for her sophomore season after putting together one of the best freshman campaigns in program history in 2023.
  • Johnson, who was selected to USA Softball’s Preseason National Player of the Year watch list, is looking to build upon her first season in Fayetteville.
  • Johnson was named to D1Softball’s Freshman All-America team and was tabbed a Top 10 Finalist for TUCCI/NFCA’s National Freshman of the Year award last season.
  • Johnson propelled Arkansas offensively and led the team with a .378 batting average, 79 hits, 47 runs scored, 18 stolen bases and four triples.
  • Johnson is already a staple in the Razorback softball record book as she peppered the third-most hits (79) in single-season program history. She also boasted the sixth-highest batting average (.378), tied for the seventh-most stolen bases (18) and 10th-most runs scored (47) in single-season program history. The Karnes City, Texas, native ranked second in the SEC and eighth nationally in hits. Johnson also shined in center field and compiled a .968 fielding percentage with 86 putouts and four assists on 93 total chances.
