Arkansas Falls in Five Sets at Alabama

Tuscaloosa, Ala.  – The University of Arkansas volleyball team (6-8) took an early lead over the Alabama Crimson Tide in its home gym on Sunday afternoon, but Alabama’s defense was the deciding factor in the five-set loss for Arkansas.

Arkansas recorded 65 kills in the loss and limited Alabama to only 53, but the Tide posted 19 blocks which stood as the difference maker in the loss. The Razorbacks will face the Crimson Tide again this season, back at home on Nov. 17.

THE TURNING POINT

Tied in the match with two sets apiece, the Razorbacks found themselves trailing 0-4 early in the fifth set. Head volleyball coach Jason Watson called a timeout and the Hogs reset and returned from the break, sparking a 4-0 scoring run that brought the teams to a tie.

The Hogs and Tide went back and forth, but it was Alabama who managed to string together multiple points down the stretch and slowly pull ahead, taking the final set 15-9.
