Arkansas-Grand Canyon Postponed To Wednesday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 14th-ranked Razorbacks and Grand Canyon Antelopes made it to the second inning Tuesday night at Baum Stadium before heavy rains and lightning forced both teams off the field. With the rain expected to continue through the night, the game is postponed until Wednesday at 2 p.m.

The Razorbacks were leading 2-0 before storm clouds moved in over Baum Stadium. Arkansas had taken advantage of four walks allowed in the first inning by Grand Canyon starting pitcher Gabe Benavides. Both of Arkansas’ runs came in on bases loaded walks to Jared Gates and Carson Shaddy.

Starting pitcher Barrett Loseke worked out of a couple jams in his two innings of work, striking out two and allowing two walks, but no hits. Grand Canyon got a runner to third after a lead-off walk in the first inning and then advanced him over on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Loseke endured through another walk before getting two quick outs to end the inning and strand two.

Arkansas and Grand Canyon will resume the game on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the bottom of the second inning with the bases full of Razorbacks and Luke Bonfield at the plate with one out. Wednesday’s regularly-scheduled game between Arkansas and Grand Canyon will start roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games will be nine innings.
