Arkansas Heads to Cincinnati
FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas men’s golf program returns to familiar ground as the Razorbacks will play in the Bearcat Invitational Sept. 15-16 at Cincinnati’s Coldstream Country Club.
The Hogs have played in the Bearcat Invitational twice, finishing runner-up both times (fall of 2017 and fall of 2019). In 2017, Arkansas was 26 under par over three rounds with its score of 826, ranking as the third-lowest, 54-hole total in school history. In 2019, Arkansas posted an 11-under total of 841.
This year’s field features 18 teams with nine teams that earned NCAA Regional berths, including Arkansas, Augusta, Furman, Kansas, Little Rock, Louisville, Sam Houston, South Florida and TCU.
Four Razorbacks that helped Arkansas tie for third in the season-opening Carmel Cup will make the trip to Cincinnati.
John Daly II will once again lead Arkansas. The senior moved up to #84 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking after tying for 19th in the season opener. Also tying for 19th at the Carmel Cup was Niilo Maki-Petaja. Erich Fortlage was the top Razorback finisher at the Carmel Cup, tying for sixth and posting a 6-under-par 210. Cam Smith rounds out the quartet of Hogs that played in the season opener.
The fifth spot in the lineup will see Willie Gordon make his collegiate debut. The Hot Springs native won two AJGA events this past year, the Mizuno Junior Championship and the Wyndham Invitational, and was runner-up at the AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational.
