Arkansas Held to Season Low 48 Points at No. 24 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Razorback women’s basketball team (11-6) fell to 0-2 in SEC play after a 77-48 loss at Alabama (15-1, 1-1 SEC) on Sunday afternoon in Coleman Coliseum.

The Tide led the entire game and was up by as many as 32 points, Arkansas’ largest deficit of the season.

First Quarter – 14-25

  • Alabama won the tip but missed its first attempt from Essence Cody.
  • Ta’Mia Scott hit a three-pointer for the first points of the game.
  • Emily Robinson was fouled and made one free throw to give Arkansas its first point of the game.
  • Bonnie Deas hit the Hogs’ first field goal of the game, a three, to make it 4-5.
  • Arkansas trailed 7-10 at the first media timeout.
  • Scott hit her second three of the game out of the timeout to give the Tide its largest lead at 13-7.
  • The Hogs cut it to 14-15 but Alabama went on a 10-0 run to close the first quarter.
  • The Tide finished 4-5 from the field in its last five attempts.

Second Quarter – 24-44

  • Alabama extended its run to 15-0 before Taleyah Jones scored Arkansas’ first points of the quarter at the 7:25 mark.
  • The Tide led 36-18 at the media timeout.
  • Alabama finished the half shooting 75% from three (7-19). Scott led the way with three.
  • The Razorbacks fell behind in rebounds, 28-16, but Deas had six prior to halftime.
  •  Arkansas faced its largest halftime deficit this season, 20 points.

Third Quarter – 36-67

  • The Hogs opened the third with a three from Ashlynn Chlarson.
  • Alabama made back-to-back threes from Cody and Jessica Timmons.
  • The Tide led 57-32 at the media timeout.

Fourth Quarter – 48-77

  • Alabama led 72-43 at the media timeout.
  • Arkansas outscored the Tide 12-10 in the fourth quarter.

Game Notes

  • Jones was held under 10 points (9) for just the second time this season and the first time since Nov. 10 against Central Arkansas.
  • Arkansas snapped its 10-game winning streak at Alabama, which dated back to 2008.
  • Deas finished one point and two rebounds shy of her sixth double-double this season.
  • Alabama had three players finish in double figures, led by Ta’Mia Scott with 16 points.
  • The Tide tied its season high with 13 three-pointers made.
  • Alabama dominated on the boards, 48-3.
