
Arkansas Men’s Tennis Continues Fall Slate at ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team is set to compete in its third event of the fall at the ITA All-American Championships. All nine Razorbacks will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to participate in the tournament held at Michael D. Case Tennis Center from Saturday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 28.
Brendan Boland, Gabriel Elicha Navas, Marino Jakic, Eric Padgham, Lukas Palovic, Arsène Pougault, Connor Smillie, Jakub Vrba and Ben Weintraub will represent the Hogs in Tulsa as they look to improve on their performanes at the ITF 15K Fayettevillle. The prequalifying draws will begin on Saturday, Sept. 20 with qualifying draw action starting on Monday, Sept. 22 and main draw matches beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Elicha Navas faces Van Assendelft (Indiana) and Padgham meets Lincoln Battle (Cleveland State) in the Round of 256 of the prequalifying singles draw on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT to open the event. Marino will begin his prequalifying singles journey at noon CT against Edouard Aubert (Wisconsin), while also teaming up with Boland to compete in the prequalifying doubles draw later in the day with their Round of 32 match scheduled for 3 p.m. CT against Andre/Landau (Indiana). The Razorbacks will also have Weintraub in the prequalifying singles draw as he is set to face Nemanja Stefanovic in the Round of 256 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
All nine student-athletes competing in Tulsa saw action this past week at the ITF 15K Fayetteville with Elicha Navas reaching the semifinals of the doubles bracket. Four players participated in the singles main draw, with Vrba being the only player to make it to the second round. Boland and Jakic picked up a victory in doubles, before eventually falling to Hopper/Shick.
The ITA All-American Championships are the first of four qualifiers for the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships, which will be held from Nov. 18-23 in Orlando, Fla. At the ITA All-American Championships, 10 singles players (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists) and four doubles teams (four main draw semifinalists) will earn an automatic berth to Orlando later this fall.
