Arkansas Moves Into Second Day of Play at ITA Central Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s team began competition in the ITA Central Regional Championships today with doubles and singles play. Two Razorbacks advanced to the Round of 32, Adrien Burdet and Alan Sau Franco to play tomorrow.

The Razorbacks got the day started with Foster Rogers and Jake Sweeney in the doubles Round of 64. It was a tight match with the Arkansas pair falling in the tiebreak, 8-7 (7). The second Razorback doubles team of Adrien Burdet and Alan Sau Franco got a first-round bye and will begin in the Round of 32 tomorrow facing De Prada/Martin Paz of Lindenwood at 8: 30 a.m. CT.

In singles, four Razorbacks saw action today with the first and second rounds underway. In the Round of 128, Rogers got things started as he faced Creighton’s Oscar Alvarez. Rogers came out on top in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to advance and play Timothy Carlsson Seger of Tulsa. Rogers fought hard taking Seger to three sets, but eventually falling 7-5, 3-6, 4-6.

Newcomer Alan Sau Franco had a first-round bye and moved on to face Rudi Christiansen of Nebraska in the Round of 64. Sau Franco took a close match 6-3, 7-6 (4) to advance into the Round of 32 tomorrow to play Baptiste Anselmo of Oklahoma State.

Junior Adrien Burdet notched the Razorbacks’ second win in the Round of 32 with a three-set victory over Wichita State’s Luke Bracks, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to advance. Burdet will face Leighton Allen of Oklahoma State.
