Arkansas Remains Among Nation’s Elite
NEW ORLEANS – After a dominating performance at the 2016 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships, the Arkansas men’s cross country team held strong as one of the best programs in the country at No. 6 in the latest USTFCCCA top-25 poll released Tuesday afternoon.
Following the completion of a successful regular season, the Razorbacks continued to showcase their talents, steamrolling the competition with a top individual performance and team finish on their home course at last weekend’s conference finale.
Led by junior Alex George who earned Arkansas’ 14th SEC individual title, the Razorbacks placed all five scoring members of its squad inside the top-10 of a talented field.
Arkansas has now been nationally ranked in the top six or higher since the preseason rankings were released. This is the highest consecutively ranked season for the Razorbacks since 2006.
The SEC champions will look to collect another postseason title at the 2016 NCAA South Central Regional meet Friday, Nov. 11, heading into the event as region’s the top-ranked team. Arkansas is the reigning South Central Regional champ, returning runners Jack Bruce, Kyle Hosting and Frank Tonui from last year’s squad.
