Arkansas runner-up for John McDonnell Program of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – For the fourth time in the past eight seasons, Arkansas finishes second in the John McDonnell Program of the Year standings for the top combined finish at the three national championships held in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field for the 2022-23 seasons.

Brigham Young eared the 2022-23 honor with a tally of 25.5 to 26 for the Razorbacks. The rest of the top five schools includes Washington (27), Oklahoma State (36.5), Wisconsin (37.5) and Texas (37.5).

An indoor national championship for Arkansas and an outdoor runner-up finish combined with the Razorbacks placing 23rd in cross country last fall.

Arkansas has won the award named for the legendary Razorback coach John McDonnell on three occasions (2013, 2017, 2021).

This marks the second time in the past three years that Arkansas and BYU have been separated by half a point for the honor. In 2021, Arkansas received Program of the Year with a 40 to 40.5 edge.

Over the past 10 years of the award, the Razorbacks have placed among the top five except for 2019 when Arkansas tied for sixth.
