Arkansas' Season Ends in Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Arkansas women’s basketball (12-20) ended its season at the SEC Tournament in Greenville with a 94-64 loss to No. 17 Kentucky (22-9) on Wednesday afternoon.

Taleyah Jones led the Hogs with 21 points in her final college basketball game.

First Quarter – 10-29

  • Kentucky won the tip and Amelia Hassett hit a three to open the game. Ashlynn Chlarson picked up her first foul on Arkansas’ first possession of the game.
  • Bonnie Deas scored the Hogs’ first points of the game, a layup at the 8:33 mark. Deas had Arkansas’ first points.
  • Chlarson picked up her second at the 8:18 mark and sat for the rest of the half.
  • Maria Anais Rodriguez checked in for Chlarson and picked up two fouls before the six-minute mark.
  • The Wildcats started 3-5 from beyond the arc and led 16-4 at the first media timeout.
  • The Hogs started 0-4 from three before Taleyah Jones hit her first at the 3:58 mark to make it 16-7.
  • Arkansas ended the quarter with an and-one from Jada Bates.
  • Kentucky outshot the Hogs 45% (9-20)-22% (4-18).

Second Quarter – 33-42

  • Jones got going with Arkansas’ first four points of the quarter.
  • The Hogs went on a 7-0 run headed into the media timeout and trailed 38-25 with 4:40 left in the half.
  • Clara Strack ended the run with a layup.
  • Bonnie Deas grabbed her 283rd rebound of the season and set the
  • Jones had an and-one to cut it to nine and start a 6-0 run with a minute left.
  • Kentucky came up empty on the last possession of the half.
  • Arkansas outscored the Wildcats 23-13 and shot 50% (9-18) from the field.

Third Quarter – 43-70

  • The Razorbacks started the half with four missed threes an five missed from the field.
  • Chlarson returned to the floor and picked up her third and fourth fouls in the first two minutes of the half.
  • Maria Anais Rodriguez had Arkansas first bucket of the half at the 7:03 mark.
  • Kentucky started the half on a 18-2 run.
  • The Wildcats jumped out to a 27-point lead on 9-17 shooting from the field and eight free throws.

Fourth Quarter – 64-94

  • Kentucky outscored the Hogs 24-21 and led by as many as 36 with three minutes left in the game.
    Jones went 4-4 from the line in the quarter.

Game Notes

  • Arkansas fell to 19-35 all-time at the SEC Tournament and 1-3 against Kentucky at the event.
  • Jones finished her final season with 25 10-plus point games and 11 20-plus point games. She led Arkansas in scoring 18 times this season.
  • Deas led the Hogs in rebounding for the 25th time this season with eight and became the program’s first freshman to record at least 283 rebounds in a season.
  • The Wildcats were led by Clara Strack with 20 points and had three players record a double-double in the game.
  • Kentucky outrebounded Arkansas 52-27.
