Arkansas Set to Host SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – The Arkansas women’s tennis team will begin its postseason at home as they host the SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament at Billingsley Tennis Center from Wednesday, April 19 through Sunday, April 23. The 7-seeded Razorbacks (12-10, 6-7) will play its first match on Thursday at 6 p.m. against the 10-seeded LSU Tigers.

The Razorbacks and the Tigers faced off earlier in the regular season, with LSU coming out on top of a 5-2 decision. In the match, senior Kelly Keller took court one over then-ranked No. 17 Kylie Collins 6-3, 7-6 (4).

Arkansas ended the regular season on a three-match win streak, earning a 4-2 win over the Missouri Tigers as they head into the postseason. The Razorbacks are at No. 43 in the latest ITA rankings with two ranked singles players and a ranked doubles team. Freshman Carolina Gomez Alonso comes in at No. 41, winning her last three matches including a clinch over Alabama. In doubles, No. 45 Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink posted a 12-4 record through the spring including five wins in SEC play on court one.

No. 47 LSU ended its regular season on a high note, defeating No. 57 Kentucky 4-2. The Tigers moved to 12-9 overall and 4-9 in conference play, placing them as the 10-seed in the tournament. In singles, LSU has a top-ranked player in No. 14 Anastasiya Komar, coming into the tournament with a 18-2 overall record and 11 wins in SEC play. The No.10-ranked pair of Kylie Collins and Komar are undefeated together, posting a 10-0 record with four ranked wins.
