Arkansas Stays Hot in Midweek Win

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 12 Arkansas (32-12) defeated Texas A&M-Commerce, 8-1, Tuesday at Bogle Park.

The Razorbacks improve to 32-12 overall and 19-7 at home.

Registering her 12th start, freshman LHP Robyn Herron (7-4) picked up the win after throwing 5.0 innings and posting her fifth double-digit strikeout performance after punching out 12. The Tampa product retired the first 12 batters she faced before giving up a double in the top of the fifth. Herron also struck out nine of the first 12 batters she faced and did not issue a walk. Herron surrendered one earned run on three hits.

Redshirt senior RHP Chenise Delce (16-5) shut the door on the Lions after pitching the final 1.1 frames. Delce tallied her third save of the season after silencing Texas A&M-Commerce, retiring all four batters she took on.

Arkansas outhit Texas A&M-Commerce at a 9-3 clip. Six of Arkansas’ eight runs were scored in the sixth.

After a quiet first, Arkansas jumped on board in the second on Hannah Gammill’s RBI double to the left center wall.

The score remained 1-0 until Texas A&M-Commerce tied it at 1-1 in the top of the fifth on a single to left.

In the bottom of the fifth, Raigan Kramer broke the tie with an RBI triple to center, scoring Atalyia Rijo for a 2-1 lead.

The Hogs strung together six runs across the sixth. It all began when Rylin Hedgecock tanked her 16th home run, a solo shot, to stretch the lead to 3-1. Reagan Johnson smashed a two-RBI single to score Lauren Camenzind and Hannah Gammill to push the lead to 5-1. Cylie Halvorson cleared the bases with a three-RBI triple down the right field line for an 8-1 lead.

Offensively, freshman Reagan Johnson guided Arkansas with a 2-for-4, two RBI day – good for her 17th multi-hit and fifth multi-RBI performance. Freshman Lauren Camenzind recorded her seventh multi-hit outing after going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Junior Cylie Halvorson drove in a team-high three runs on her first triple as a Razorback.

Redshirt junior Rylin Hedgecock rocketed her team-leading, 16th home run this season.

Sophomore Raigan Kramer, junior Hannah Gammill and freshman Atalyia Rijo rounded out Arkansas’ hits column with a hit apiece.
