Arkansas Swim Wins All-Arkansas Invitational

The Razorbacks won the All-Arkansas Invitational over UALR, Henderson State University, Ouachita Baptist University, and Harding University (Club Swim) with a final score of 552.

Arkansas took first in each category they participated in, with 11 total first place finishes, five second place finishes, and seven third place finishes. Three of their first-place finishes were from relay events, the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.48), and the 200-yard (1:34.53) and 400-yard (3:29.53) freestyle relays.

Isabelle Leigh finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.18. Next, Ellery Chandler took gold in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.83. The next event was the 50-yard freestyle where Viola Petrini took the victory with a time of 23.92. Then Ellen Garritson claimed the crown in the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.77. Viola Petrini also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.33. Holly Robinson won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:09.49. In the 100-yard backstroke Hayden Gibson claimed the title with a time of 56.01. Ellen Garriston also claimed the title in 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.05.

UALR finished second with a score of 494, then in third Henderson State University with a score of 398. Fourth place was claimed by Ouachita Baptist with a score of 359, and Harding University (Club Swim) finished fifth with a score of 105.

The Razorbacks have now won their last six season openers. Arkansas will be back in action for their first home meet next Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11:00 a.m. inside the Arkansas Natatorium.
