Arkansas Women’s Tennis Goes 1-1 During Trip to Oklahoma

The Razorbacks went 1-1 during their road trip to Norman, Okla. The Hogs fell in their SEC opener against No. 7 Oklahoma but bounced back with a win against Air Force.

During their first match, the Hogs dropped 2 of the 3 doubles matches. Jimena Gomez and Brooke Schafer fell to No. 44 Evialina Laskevich and Edda Mamedova, 1-6. Then Arina Babenko and Alexandra Panagiotidou fell to Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang, 2-6.

During singles the Razorbacks couldn’t gain momentum. Brooke Schafer fell to No. 18 Julia Garcia Ruiz, 1-6, 1-6. Alex Panagiotidou fell to Chloe Noel, 2-6, 4-6. Then Arina Babenko fell to Salakthip Ounmuang, 1-6, 2-6.

The Hogs dropped 2 of the 3 doubles matches to start the match against Air Force. Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel fell to Abby Cotuna and Sofia Mavor, 6-4. Jimena Gomez and Brooke Schafer, Shivaani Selvan and Arianna Van Houwelin, 6-2.

During singles Anet Koskel took down Sofia Mavor, 6-1, 6-0. Then Arina Babenko defeated Maya Michalski, 6-2, 6-2. No. 19 Carolina Gomez took down Abby Cotuna, 6-3, 6-4. To seal the match Alexandra Panagiotidou took down Yule Kang, 6-2, 7-6.

The Hogs dropped their SEC opener by a score of 0-4, and took down Air Force, 4-1. The Razorbacks return to action at the Billingsley Tennis Center on Thursday, February 26 to take on Florida at 5:00 p.m.
