Arkansas Women’s Tennis Goes 1-1 on Road Trip to Alabama

The Razorbacks split their two matches at Auburn, defeating EKU 4-0, and falling to Auburn, 4-0. The Hogs are now 9-4 (0-3) on the season.

During the first match, the Hogs dropped two of the three doubles matches. No. 25 Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel fell to DJ Bennett and Ava Esposito, 6-1. Alex Panagiotidou and Arina Babenko fell to E. Khairtdinova and Ashton Bowers, 6-0.

Then in singles the Tigers won three straight singles matches to take the match. Anet Koskel fell to No. 95 Angella Okutoyi, 6-1, 6-1. No. 19 Carolina Gomez fell to No. 37 DJ Bennett, 6-1, 6-2. Alex Panagiotidou fell to No. 26 Ashton Bowers, 6-2, 6-2.

Then during the second match the Hogs took the doubles points with wins coming from No. 25 Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel taking down Ceylin Ipek and Sasha Parkhomenko, 6-3. Then Brooke Schafer and Jimena Gomez took down Masha Fedenko and Anastas Cherniakova, 6-3.

The Hogs stayed hot during singles and won three straight to close out the match. Arina Babenko tool down Mariia Triska, 6-0, 6-0. Brooke Schafer took down Sasha Parkhomenko, 6-1, 6-2. Then No. 19 Carolina Gomez took down Ceylin Ipek, 6-2, 6-2.

The Hogs return to action next weekend when they travel to take on Kentucky and Tennessee on the road.
