Arkansas Women’s Tennis Takes Down Kansas
The Razorbacks improve to 7-1 on the season after completing a comeback win against Kansas.
During doubles, the Hogs dropped 2 of the 3 matches. Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel took down Yerkezhan Arystanbekova and Anna Putlina, 6-2. Jimena Gomez and Brooke Schafer fell to Keike Janse Van Vurren and Meg McCarty, 2-6. Arina Babenko and Alexandra Panagiotidou fell to Meriem Ben Ezzedine and Kyoka Kubo, 5-7.
The Hogs turned everything around during singles. Jimena Gomez sealed the victory for the Razorbacks winning a three set thriller against Anna Putilina, 6-3, 7-5, 6-1. No. 22 Carolina Gomez took down No. 25 Kyoka Kubo, 7(9)-6(7), 6-3. Anet Koskel defeated Yerkezhan Arystanbekova, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Alexandra Panagiotidou defeated Meg McCarty, 6-3, 6-3. Brooke Schafer fell to Heike Janse Van Vurren, 4-6, 3-6. Arina Babenko fell to Nahyeong Cho, 5-7, 3-6.
The Razorback will travel to Norman, Okla. on Sunday, Feb. 22 to face Air Force and Oklahoma.
