Arkansas Places 29 Spring Sports Athletes on SEC Academic Honor Roll
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas placed 29 spring sports student-athletes on the 2006 Southeastern Conference honor roll the conference announced on Thursday.
To be eligible for the SEC list each student-athlete must have completed 24 hours and have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above.
The 2006 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2005 Summer, 2005 Fall and 2006 Spring terms.
The Arkansas men’s track and field team headed up the list with 13 student-athletes on the list. They include senior Louis Bordes, masters of business administration; sophomore Ryan Botha, accounting; Senior Eric Brown, management; junior Brad Dittoe, criminal justice; senior Eric Gross, geology; junior Tyler Hill, biology; junior Jonathan Norris, finance; junior Adam Perkins, finance; senior Marc Rodrigues, kinesiology; sophomore Brent Rosson, kinesiology; sophomore Mychael Stewart, kinesiology; junior Seth Summerside, marketing; junior David Wittenmyer, communications.
Ten of Dave Van Horn’s Diamond Hogs made the honor roll, including senior Charley Boyce, marketing; junior Jake Dugger, kinesiology; junior James Gilbert, mechanical engineering; senior Chris Hollensworth, accounting; senior Trey Holloway, kinesiology; junior Brian McLelland, chemical engineering; sophomore Shaun Seibert, kinesiology; senior Josh Smith, kinesiology; redshirt sophomore Brian Walker, kinesiology; redshirt freshman Matt Willard, business.
Four UA tennis players qualified, including sophomore Braden Burks, kinesiology; sophomore Michael Jung, business; junior Andrei Nicoara, marketing; senior Matt Roberts, kinesiology. The golf team also had two student-athletes make the list with sophomore Hunter Buwick, communications and sophomore Will Osborne, communications.
