The University of Arkansas Athletic Communications office is seeking student volunteers to assist the communications staff during the school year. The communications team serves as the liaison between Arkansas athletics programs and the public through print and digital communications platforms.
DESCRIPTION
- Work closely with full-time staff and assistants to develop and execute initiatives to further heighten the coverage and excitement centering around Arkansas Athletics
- Executing game day set-up and game day responsibilities at the direction of their communications department supervisor, with the potential for weekly office hours
- Work special events including but not limited to: postseason competitions, SEC events, etc
- Assist with gameday operations, writing press releases and other feature stories for arkansasrazorbacks.com
- Help with the execution of social media plans and the creation of digital content like photo editing and score graphic updates
- Assist full-time staff with other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Interest in pursuing a career in sports administration, advertising, public relations, event management, operations or marketing
- Full-time student at the University of Arkansas
- Available to assist with gameday responsibilities at Arkansas home events
- Willingness to volunteer for various projects in the office during the week
- Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
- Awareness of the urgency of certain projects and deadlines
- Comfortable and able to communicate effectively with the public, the media and follow through with minimal direction
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Willingness to learn new skills, including basic functions of Adobe creative suite (InDesign, Photoshop) to create content for print/digital
- Basic familiarity of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Marketing, Business, Journalism, RESM, Communications or related major preferred
