Athletic and Facilities Management Departments Launching ?Recycle with the Razorbacks? Campaign

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Beginning with Saturday’s football season-opener against Troy, the Razorback Athletic Department and the University of Arkansas Facilities Management Department, in cooperation with Waste Management, are launching a “Recycle with the Razorbacks” campaign.

The athletic department is encouraging fans to participate both inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium and outside the stadium in designated tailgating areas.

All plastic cups and bottles can be recycled inside the stadium. Fans are encouraged to place those items in the appropriate recycle containers located in the tunnels leading from the stands into the concourse areas. A total of 160 recycle containers will be placed throughout the stadium, including many in the suite areas. Regular trash containers will be located in the concourses and near concession areas.

Outside the stadium, recycle containers will be placed in Lot 44, located immediately north of the stadium outside the Broyles Athletic Center, and in the Gardens, a tailgating area on Razorback Road south of Bud Walton Arena. Plastic cups and bottles, and aluminum cans can be recycled in those areas as well.

Depending on fan participation, recycle bins may be placed in additional lots in the future.

Also inside the stadium, the athletic department, Hog Heaven, Sodexho USA and Chartwells Educational Dining Services are concentrating on recycling the cardboard left over from stocking the stadium. Sodexho and Chartwells stock all concession areas throughout the facility.

In addition, cleanup crews will separate items that can be recycled from trash left in the stands following games.
