
Bailey sets career best as 400m runner-up at Prefontaine Classic
EUGENE – A career best time of 44.15 seconds by Arkansas alum Chris Bailey placed him second in the 400m at the 50th Prefontaine Classic on Saturday.
Racing for the first time on U.S. soil this outdoor season, Bailey bettered his previous best of 44.17 in challenging for the victory. British sprinter Matthew Hudson-Smith won the Diamond League event in a season best of 44.10.
As the top American in the field, Bailey finished ahead of Jacory Patterson (44.31) and Khaleb McRae (44.45).
Racing in the 200m T62/T64, Arkansas alum Hunter Woodhall finished second with a time of 21.51 behind the winning time of 21.11 by Olivier Hendriks of the Netherlands. It was the first 200m race for Woodhall since he was a Razorback.
Competing in the discus, alum Rojé Stona placed fourth with a toss of 215-3 (65.62).
