Both Razorback Doubles Teams Win on Day Two
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Day two of the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego saw both Razorback doubles teams grab wins in the consolation bracket.
Melvin Manuel and Adrien Burdet took on Roberts Grinvalds and Andrei Duarte of Georgia State on Friday, and the Arkansas duo made it past the Panthers in a tight one, 5-7, 6-2, (11-9). Razorbacks Riccardo Trione and Oscar Pinto Sansano were also back in action Friday and they were also victorious in their match, against Sasha Trkulja and Matthew Hollingworth of Gonzaga, taking the Bulldogs down, 6-0, 7-5.
Arkansas sophomore Aleksa Bucan took on the No. 8 seed in singles, JJ Tracy of Ohio State, and fell to the Buckeye, 6-0, 6-1.
The Arkansas doubles teams advance in the consolation bracket and will play again Saturday. Manuel and Burdet are set to face Dario Huber and Victor Moreno Lozano of Nebraska while Trione and Pinto Sansano take on LSU Tigers Vlad Lobak and Gabriel Diaz Freire. Those matches are set to start at 3 p.m. CT.
