Chesondin, Masai set indoor bests in 5,000m at Boston

BOSTON – Razorback Timothy Chesondin set a career best in the 5,000m and moved to No. 9 on the Arkansas all-time indoor list during competition at the Boston University Season Opener on Saturday.

After earning an All-America honor in cross country a couple of weeks ago, Chesondin placed 14th in the first section of the 5,000m with a time of 13:38.10. That performance improved his previous best of 13:44.83 set at the Boston University Terrier Classic last season.

Ben Shearer, who has an outdoor season remaining with the Razorbacks, won the first section of the 3,000m with a time of 7:51.56, which is just off his career best of 7:46.96 from 2024 that ranks No. 8 on the UA all-time list.

Also racing over 5,000m were Brian Masai and James Sankei. Racing in the second section, Masai finished 11th in 13:43.63 to better his previous indoor best of 13:46.76 from 2023. Sankei posted a time of 14:01.45 to place 11th in the fourth section as he made his indoor debut.

Owan Logorodi made his indoor debut with a 4:08.02 performance in the mile, placing ninth in the first section. Jack Williams posted a time of 8:14.95 to finish 10th in the fourth section of the 3,000m. Williams has a career best of 8:12.30 from the 2025 Tyson Invitational.
