Crawford Named SEC Golfer Of The Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Behind his second straight top 5 finish to open the spring season, Arkansas men’s golf redshirt junior Kolton Crawford earned his first career SEC Golfer of the Week honor, announced on Wednesday by the league office.

Crawford is the second Razorback to be named SEC Golfer of the Week in the last seven days, following junior Taylor Moore garnering the award last Wednesday. Both Crawford and Moore have finished in the top five of both spring events and have a combined 11 even-par or lower rounds out of their two 54-hole spring tournaments.

Entering Sunday as the 36-hole leader for the second straight weekend, Crawford tied for second place at the Bayou City Collegiate to help Arkansas run its spring head-to-head record to 23-4 with a four place finish in the 15-team field. Crawford’s 71-68-72/211 (-5) scorecard featured a team-high 11 birdies while he was second amongst the field in par 4 scoring at three-under.

Crawford’s back-to-back top 5s are a career-first, while he sits second on the team with a 72.4 stroke average. A native of Mansfield, Texas, Crawford has been the team’s low-man in four of six rounds in the spring and a team-high eight times on the year. Through six tournaments played in the fall and spring, Crawford has a trio of top 5s and four events with double figure birdies.

Like Crawford and Moore, Arkansas has opened its spring with back-to-back top 5s and will return to action on Sunday when it opens play at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
