Curry Earns SEC Honor

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback sophomore Thomas Curry was named the SEC co-Golfer of the week, sharing the recognition with Auburn’s Carson Bacha.

Curry (Texarkana, Ark./Texas HS) tied for fifth with a 5-under-par 208 at the Cabo Collegiate, helping the Razorbacks place fourth.  It marked Curry’s second top-5 finish this year and his second for his career. He was the highest-placing SEC player in the field that included Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss

After an opening round 73 and standing in a tie for 27th, Curry finished with rounds of 69-66 to move to 12th after round two and fifth for the event. He birdied his 54th and final hole of the event to secure Arkansas’ fourth-place finish, edging Tennessee.

His 5-under-par final round (66) tied his best career round in relation to par. Curry had 12 birdies for the event, seven in the final round.

Arkansas entered the event ranked 70th in the NCAA/Clippd rankings and moved to 51st after its strong performance. The 14-team field included 10 of the nation’s top 51 teams including #3 Arizona State (1st), #6 Oklahoma State (2nd), #21 Florida State (3rd), #29 Tennessee (5th), #19 Texas Tech (6th), #51 Stanford (7th), #17 Arizona (8th), #14 Vanderbilt (9th), #1 Ole Miss (13th) and #49 Houston (14th).

Curry is the 23rd Razorback to be tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week.
