DARREN McFADDEN NAMED TO AFCA ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

Razorback Fans: Vote for this week’s Pontiac Game Changing Performance – almost $200,000 is on the line.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ Darren McFadden officially became a two-time All-American Thursday as the junior tailback was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team for the second-consecutive year.

McFadden is one of just four returning players from last year’s team. Offensive lineman Jake Long of Michigan, defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey of LSU and defensive back Dwight Lowery of San Jose State join McFadden as members from the 2006 team.

The Little Rock, Ark., native is averaging 143.8 yards per game on the ground and 181 all-purpose yards this season. During the season, McFadden set single-season records for Arkansas with 1,725 rushing yards and 2,172 all-purpose yards gained. Both marks eclipse records he set last season.

During his junior campaign, McFadden became the Razorbacks’ all-time leading rusher and all-purpose leader. He passed Ben Cowins on the UA rushing list and now has 4,485 yards during his Razorback career. Through his 37-game career, McFadden has gained 5,743 all-purpose yards which moves him ahead of Gary Anderson for the top spot on the school list.

McFadden is one of two running backs on the All-America team—Jonathan Stewart of Oregon is the other. The two backs are joined in the backfield by Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan.
