Dauda Named to SEC Community Service Team
FAYETTEVILLE – Maryam Dauda, a forward on the Arkansas women’s basketball team, was tabbed to the SEC Community Service Team. She is Arkansas’ representative for the award, being one of 14 in the league among the women’s basketball programs.
Dauda has logged over 30 community service hours throughout the school year, which leads the team. She has been involved with the Cherokee Nation, in which she spent a full day in Tahlequah, Oklahoma engaging in several community service projects. She has participated in loading the Tyson Food Truck, as well as shopped and wrapped presents for the Porter House Family during the holidays. Dauda has also volunteered at the Haunted House for Down Syndrome.
Additionally, Dauda was involved with the Suits and Sneakers Gala, a big event held in Northwest Arkansas to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society, as well as has partaken in autograph sessions following mostly every Sunday home game.
Dauda is the women’s basketball team’s representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and is a part of the Black Leadership Athletic Committee (BLAC). She was also of 14 among the SEC teams to serve as a part of the SEC Basketball Leadership Council.
Dauda and the Hogs take on No. 1/1 South Carolina tonight, Thursday, at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network from Bud Walton Arena.
