
Day Signs Professional Contract with New York Rise
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. – Former Arkansas standout utility player Courtney Day has signed a professional contract with the New York Rise of the Fastpitch United Pro Series, the organization announced Wednesday.
Day made her professional debut last night in Overland Park, Kan., going 1-2 with an RBI single while walking twice in an 11-0 (5 inn.) victory over the Kansas City Diamond.
She recently wrapped up her collegiate career with an outstanding season during her lone year at Arkansas. The Pearland, Texas product batted .329 with 47 hits, 12 doubles, a triple, 16 home runs and 68 RBI while posting a .762 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage. Her 68 RBI were tied for third in the Arkansas single-season record books. She registered 20 multi-RBI games and 12 multi-hit games while finishing her collegiate career on a career-best 21-game reached-base streak and a five-game hitting streak. Day ranked 11th nationally and third in the SEC in RBI per game (1.26)
The New York Rise will play a 31-game schedule from June 11-July 23 as part of the Fast Pitch United Pro Series. Also representing the Razorbacks on the Rise alongside Day is former Razorback ace Chenise Delce.
