Destiny Huven wins 100m hurdles in outdoor debut at Twilight

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback Destiny Huven won her first race over 100m hurdles this outdoor season with a time of 13.39 seconds during Friday’s Arkansas Twilight at John McDonnell Field.

A world-leading outdoor mark in the long jump was produced by Tara Davis-Woodhall as she won the event with an outdoor PR of 23-6 (7.16) in the third round. A second round effort of 23-2.5 (7.07) equaled the facility and meet record she established in the 2023 Arkansas Twilight.

Davis set an overall career best of 23-6.75 (7.18) during the indoor season to win the USATF Indoor Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Racing for the first time since the NCAA Indoor Championships due to an injury, Huven opened with the 100m and clocked 11.94 for sixth place as UA alum Jada Baylark won the race in 11.27 (-0.3 wind).

Moving to her specialty event later in the meet, Huven cruised to a victory over professional Gabriele Cunningham (13.45). Huven sports a career best of 12.82 in the event.

Arkansas alum Shafiqua Maloney registered a win in the 400m as she lowered her St. Vincent and the Grenadines national record to 50.75 from a 50.94 earlier this outdoor season.

Maloney bettered the meet record of 50.97 set by Razorback Britton Wilson in 2022. Finishing behind Maloney in the race was Kendall Baisden with a time of 52.91.

Another Arkansas alum set a meet record as Logan Jolly won the 1,500m in 4:14.79 to better the previous mark of 4:16.64 set by Razorback Katie Izzo in 2021. The top five finishers topped the previous meet record.

Sydney Thorvaldson was the top collegian in the field as her 4:15.33 career best placed second with teammate Mia Cochran third in 4:15.52 while Oklahoma State’s Taylor Roe finished fourth with a 4:15.95.

Razorback Laura Taborda clocked 4:19.78 in sixth place while Chachi Gonzales won another section in a career best of 4:25.83 and placed eighth overall.

Tiana LoStrocco finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:03.80 that moves her to No. 9 on the UA all-time list and is just shy of her career best of 2:03.12. Mary Ellen Eudaly ran 2:10.97 in placing 10th.

Razorback freshman Rachel Homoly finished second in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-11.25 (4.25) on her third attempt. Teammates followed in third place with Hannah Estes (12-11.5 | 3.95) as well as Bailee Wooten and Lauren Carpenter tying for fourth place at 11-7.75 (3.55).

Homoly, who has a 14-1 career best from high school, attempted 14-1.25 (4.30), which was the winning height for Kenzie Beukes.
