Dungee & Slocum Remain On Positional Watch Lists

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ dynamic guard duo, Chelsea Dungee and Destiny Slocum, both stayed on their respective Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Watch Lists, announced this week. Dungee, who has racked up the national accolades this week, is one of 10 shooting guards remaining on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, while Slocum is one of 10 lead guards still vying for the Nancy Lieberman Award.

Chelsea Dungee’s greatness has been on display through eight SEC games, as the redshirt senior is averaging 24.0 points per game, the best mark in the league. Dungee has gone for 20+ in seven of eight conference games thus far, while going for 30 in two of them – 30 at Tennessee and 33 at home against Florida. Her performance against Florida was truly historic – Dungee matched her own program record for made free throws (17-17), and became the only SEC player ever to hit 17+ in multiple games. The Sapulpa, Okla. native has been remarkably consistent all season long, as she has now scored in double-figures in 23 straight contests. Dungee has also scored 30+ 11 times in her career, the most 30 point games in program history.

Slocum, meanwhile, has been a regular on the Lieberman Watch List, as this will be her third straight season in contention for the award. The Oregon State transfer has been excellent for the Hogs through her 19 game played, as she is second on the squad in scoring (14.6 PPG) and leads Arkansas in assists (3.6 APG). Slocum’s passing ability has been on display all season, as she has dished five or more helpers six times this season. Despite being a pass first player, Slocum has also scored the ball well in Neighbors’ up-tempo offensive system, scoring in double-figures in 17 of 19 games played.
