Effiong speeds to a windy victory at Arkansas Twilight

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback Rosey Effiong delivered a wind-aided 22.75 victory in the 200m at the Arkansas Twilight on Friday with alum Ackera Nugent runner-up in 23.01.

Another section of the 200m had twin sisters Arianna and Amirah Sharpe posting wind-aided times of 23.14 and 23.43 to finish 1-2. Joanne Reid ran 23.39w for third in the section with Effiong to place fourth overall.

Effiong has a wind-legal PR of 22.78 from 2024 that ranks No. 7 on the UA all-time list. Her 22.75 victory was assisted by a 3.9 wind.

In the 400m final the Sharpe sisters raced in separate sections. Arianna won the first section in a career best of 51.31 to place second overall while Amirah clocked 52.30 as runner-up to Jamaica’s Leah Anderson (51.15) in the second section to place fourth overall.

Ashanti Denton (52.38) and Sanaria Butler (52.45) placed fifth and sixth overall in the 400m.

Addison Richey won the pole vault with a clearance of 13-3.5 (4.05) while teammates Emily Cloutier (12-9.5|3.90) and Bailee Wooten (12-3.5|3.75) finished second and fourth.

The 1,500m had a strong finish by Arkansas alum Logan Jolly as she claimed the win in 4:16.46 over a pair of Oklahoma State runners – Isca Chelangat (4:16.71) and Josephine Mwaura (4:18.08) – while another alum Stephanie Brokaw placed fourth in 4:18.09.

Nia Robinson won the long jump with a wind-aided leap of 22-1.5 (6.74) that was assisted with a 3.4 wind. Robinson also had a wind-legal mark of 21-3.5 (6.49) in her series.

UA alum Destiny Huven equaled her career best of 12.77 to win the 100m hurdles.

Alum Tianna LoStracco posted a time of 2:07.57 in the 800m for sixth place ahead of Razorbacks Madeleine Gear (2:09.12) and Rachel Cornell (2:10.15). Camryn Kirkland improved to 11:13.17 to place fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase. Racing in another section of the 1,500m, Razorbacks Ruby Little (4:34.91) and Audrey Hill (4:42.93) placed sixth and ninth.
