Fan events set for Southwest Classic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The beginning of the 10-year series between Arkansas and its former Southwest Conference rival Texas A&M kicks off Oct. 3 at the new, state-of-the-art Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Arkansas Alumni Association is partnering with Razorback Athletics, the University of Arkansas and the Greater Dallas Razorback Club to present events for alumni, friends and Razorback fans to show their pride in the Dallas-Fort Worth area leading up to the inaugural Southwest Classic.

Razorback fans are invited to the following events leading up to the game:

Hog Wild in the Sculpture GardenFriday, Oct. 2 6 p.m. — 8 p.m. Sculpture Garden at the Hilton Anatole (2201 Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75207):Current members of the Arkansas Alumni Association and the Razorback Foundation are invited to a private party at the University headquarters hotel to kick off the weekend. In addition to appearances by Tusk II, the Razorback Band and Spirit Squads, a silent auction will be held to benefit the Arkansas Alumni Association’s Scholarship Program and the Tusk Fund. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. Admission is $5 for members of the Association or Razorback Foundation and $10 for non-member guests. Hugo’s Razorback RallyFriday, Oct. 2 8 p.m. — 2 a.m.Gilley’s — Dallas (Southside Events Center)1135 S Lamar StDallas, TX 75215-1036The Dallas Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association and the Greater Dallas Razorback Club invite Razorback fans to join them for the official celebration the night before Arkansas takes on Texas A&M. In honor of the 100 Years of the Razorback Celebration, this event is named in honor of Coach Hugo Bezdek, who first called the football team the Razorbacks in 1909. Enjoy Arkansas’ own Tragikly White, and an appearance from the Razorback Band and cheerleaders. Chuck Barrett, the Voice of the Razorbacks, will also be the emcee for the evening. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door (if availability exists). All ages are permitted, but identification required at entry. Arkansas’ own Tragikly White will play a free concert for all Hog fans beginning at 1:30 p.m. Hog Heaven will be set up with Southwest Classic and 100 Years of the Razorback memorabilia for sale. Food and beverage vendors will also be scattered throughout the plaza.

The parade will begin approximately at 3:15pm from Lot 1 and 2 leading up to the West Plaza of Cowboys Stadium with the band, spirit squads and Tusk II. There will a pep rally in the plaza area at the end of the parade.
