Ferraguti Earns Second SEC Swimmer of the Week Honors of Season
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alessia Ferraguti earned SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time this season for her performance against the LSU Tigers in the team’s first road meet of the year. Ferraguti’s success was key to propelling the Razorbacks to a 151-149 victory over a talent-rich LSU team.
Ferraguti had four podium finishes in the match. She placed first in the 100 and the 200 Breaststroke with times of 1:01.33 and 2:12.93 respectively. Both times were good for NCAA B-Cut times. She was also part of the Razorbacks’ first-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay and a second-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Head Swimming Coach Neil Harper commented that “LSU has been a hard place to get a dual meet win recently,” and the team’s success is, “reflective of where our team and its leaders are.” Ferraguti has had a very measurable impact so far this season, and the SEC honors serve to evidence her contribution to the team’s wins to open the season. “Alessia getting this award is a reflection of her achievements in the meets this weekend,” said Harper of Ferraguti’s dominant performance.
The Razorbacks will be back in action on October 27 at 4:00 PM in Palo Alto, Calif. as they take on 10th-ranked Stanford.
