Former Razorback Netter Wins First Professional Title
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Razorback Matt Roberts teamed with Antonio Ruiz-Rosales to win the doubles title Friday at the Guatemala F1 Futures event. The unseeded duo defeated the third-seeded team of Raian Luchici and Brad Pomeroy, 6-2, 6-1.
The win was Roberts and Ruiz-Rosales’ second win over a seeded team in the tournament. In the semifinals, they downed the No. 2 seed team of Leonardo Azzaro and Pietro Fanucci, 6-3, 6-4.
During his career at Arkansas, Roberts was a two-time All-SEC performer. During his senior season, Roberts won a career-high 28 matches while helping lead the Razorbacks to the regional finals in 2006.
