Fortlage Earns SEC Honor

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback Erich Fortlage has been named SEC Men’s Golf Freshman of the Week, the league announced today.

Fortlage is just the fourth Razorback to be named SEC Freshman of the Week and the first since Manuel Lozada was honored on April 8, 2021.

Fortlage won his first collegiate tournament on Monday by shooting a 10-under-par 206 at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate. He was under par all three rounds, firing 65-70-69. His opening-round, bogey-free 65 (-7) was the best by a Razorback this season. He was among the top three throughout the event and he eagled his 52nd hole to secure the win.

Fortlage helped Arkansas win its first team title of the season, defending its title from last year, shooting 23-under over the final two rounds. The Razorbacks were in seventh place after round one and nine shots back. The team shot 13-under in round two and moved into second but still five shots out. The third round started after round two due to inclement weather in the forecast and was suspended due to darkness with Arkansas four shots out and seven holes to play. Arkansas would shoot 10-under for the third round and win by two strokes.

Up Next, Arkansas hosts the CABO Collegiate Mar. 2-4.
