Franklin, Carver Earn SEC Weekly Honors
FAYETTEVILLE – No. 10 Arkansas closed out the regular season with a 1-0 win over No. 21 Mississippi State last night, and two Hogs have been recognized for their contributions.
Graduate midfielder Bea Franklin earned Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Phoebe Carver was named Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Friday.
Franklin scored the game-winner against the Bulldogs with less than five minutes remaining in the match. The goal was Franklin’s team-leading seventh of the season, the most she’s scored in a season in her career.
Carver racked up her fourth career clean sheet in the win. Carver made five saves, including a wild one that hit off the crossbar, to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Carver is a perfect 6-0-0 in her young collegiate career.
The win gave Arkansas the SEC regular season title outright, and the Western Division crown.
Franklin, Carver and the Razorbacks will begin postseason play as the No. 1 seed at the SEC Tournament. They will take on the winner of Auburn versus Tennessee on Tuesday, October 31. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT and the match will air on SEC Network.
