Freshman Diver Maria Jose Sanchez Collects Two SEC Honors
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas diver Maria Jose-Sanchez was named to the All-SEC Second Team as well as the All-Freshman Team the league office announced Thursday.
Sanchez is the first Razorback diver to earn All-SEC honors since Brooke Schultz in 2021 and becomes the 17th Razorback to receive this honor in program history.
The freshman diver earned her honors after being named SEC Diver of the Week twice, as well as receiving an SEC Freshman Weekly Honor, this past season.
Sanchez’s stellar debut campaign continued in the postseason with a 274.60 in the A-Final of the 1-meter dive, a 281.20 in the B-Final of the 3-meter dive, and a 304.35 and third-place finish on the platform at the SEC Championships.
She capped off her success by earning an All-American Honorable Mention on the 3-Meter after scoring a 326.70 in the B-Finals and securing a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Championships for the event.
