George Races To SEC Weekly Award

SEC Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas junior Alex George was named the Southeastern Conference Runner of the Week, following his individual victory in Boston this past weekend at the Battle in Beantown.

The conference honor is the fifth for George since his arrival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 2014, having received three freshman weekly awards and one runner of the week award prior to his junior season.

Last weekend George opened up his third cross country campaign as a Razorback in phenomenal fashion, dominating the field from start to finish.

The Gloucester, Great Britain, native captured the first individual cross country title of his career, defeating the meet runner-up from Providence by a 16 second margin over the 8K course. His time of 24 minutes, 9 seconds paced Arkansas to a third-place team finish.

George will return to action for the Razorbacks on his home course of Agri Park next weekend when Arkansas hosts the 28th Annual Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, Oct. 1.
