Gregory’s Debut Recognized By SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas freshman Lauren Gregory was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week for her stellar debut at the Riverside Invitational in Riverside, California last Saturday.

In her first ever 6K, Gregory finished ninth and was the top overall freshman in a field of 122 Division I runners. She was also one of only eight runners, and four Razorbacks, to go sub-20:20.00 in the race.

Gregory follows in the footsteps of 2016 All-American Taylor Werner who won SEC Freshman Runner of the Week following her debut at the 2016 Riverside Invitational. Her time of 20:17.20 was good for the 21st best in program history.

Her performance helped lead the Razorbacks to the top spot at the Riverside Invitational 6K over the weekend for the first team title of the season. Arkansas also finished first in the 5K in Riverside and were rewarded with a top 10 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll.

The Arkansas women’s cross country team will return to action Saturday, Sept. 30 for the 29th annual Chili Pepper Festival at Agri Park and the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
