Hogs at No. 6 in D1Baseball's Top 100 Programs Rankings
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas checked in at No. 6 in D1Baseball’s biennial rankings of the top 100 programs in college baseball.
D1Baseball’s rankings place an emphasis on a tradition of consistent winning in the last decade, especially in the last five years, with the ultimate goal being to identify programs in the best shape currently with an eye towards the next five to 10 years. Points are awarded to programs for making regionals, winning regionals, reaching the College World Series and winning the national championship in the last five (completed) seasons. National writers Aaron Fitt, Kendall Rogers, Mike Rooney, Joe Healy, Mark Etheridge and Bradley Smart make adjustments to the rankings based on based on subjective evaluations of coaching staff quality and stability, facilities, scholarship/revenue sharing/NIL situation, conference dynamics, momentum, and recruiting and player development proficiency.
Arkansas, the winningest program in the nation since the start of the 2017 campaign with 424 total victories, is one of only two schools in the country to win 40-plus games in each of the last nine full seasons. Led by a nation-leading three first-round selections, the Razorbacks, who finished this past season 41-22 overall and 17-13 in SEC play to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, concluded the 2026 MLB Draft with a program-record 12 players selected.
6. Arkansas
2024 Rank: 5. 2022 Rank: 2. 2019 Rank: 3. 2017 Rank: 13. 2015 Rank: 12.
You can pretty much set your watch to Arkansas being among the elite teams in college baseball year after year, and that’s why it has maintained a spot of 13th or better in all six editions of this exercise. Going back to 2017, one season after the last time Arkansas missed the NCAA Tournament, it has won 41 or more games overall in every full season and has gone at least 17-13 in SEC play in every one of those years. For comparison’s sake, every single other SEC team has had at least two regular seasons in which it finished under .500 in its league in that time period. On top of its on-field success, Arkansas also finds itself in this rarified air of college baseball thanks to its excellent facility, Baum-Walker Stadium, its elite level of fan support, and the steady leadership provided by head coach Dave Van Horn, who is about to embark on his 25th season at the helm of the program. The one thing missing from Arkansas’ resumé is a national championship, but if it continues to put itself in position to play for one in Omaha, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before that comes. — Joe Healy
