Hogs Back on the Plains for SEC Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the fourth consecutive year, the Arkansas Razorbacks earned a top-4 seed at the Southeastern Conference Tournament with the No. 4 seed. Clinching a bye Arkansas will take on the winner between No. 5 Missouri and No. 13 Ole Miss in Game 2 Thursday at Jane B. Moore Field on SEC Network with Kevin Brown (pbp), Amanda Scarborough (analyst) and Alyssa Lang (sideline) on the call.

With a win Thursday, Arkansas will advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals Friday at 3 p.m. CT vs. the winner between No. 1 Tennessee and No. 8 LSU/No. 9 Alabama. The game will broadcast on ESPN2.

Tournament History

The Razorbacks won their first SEC Tournament Championship in 2022 in Gainesville, Fla., defeating No. 7 Missouri 4-0. Arkansas outscored opponents 11-1 en route to their first tournament crown.
Last season, Arkansas hosted the SEC Tournament at Bogle Park in Fayetteville. With the No. 4 seed, Arkansas lost to No. 5 Alabama, 3-2, in nine innings on May 11, 2023.
Arkansas is 14-19 all-time in 15 appearances at the SEC Tournament.
The Razorbacks have played in two SEC Tournament Finals (2022, 2000).

The Razorbacks defeated in-state foe Central Arkansas on April 30, 8-0 (6), in Conway, Ark.
Last time on the road, the Razorbacks recorded their second top-10 series win of the season after defeating No. 7 LSU in Baton Rouge.

The Beebe Bomber

Senior third baseman and Beebe, Ark., native Hannah Gammill has etched her name inside the program’s record book. With 44 career home runs (11 so far in 2024), Gammill sits fourth all-time in program history in career home runs.
Gammill earned the prestigious Champion and Razorback for Life award at her graduation on April 29, presented by Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek.
Gammill became the youngest player in program history to earn First Team NFCA All-America honors when she received the accolade in 2022.
Gammill’s offensive production has skyrocketed during conference-only play this season as she led the team in RBI with 18 and ranked second in home runs with five.
Gammill ranks second on the team in home runs this season with 11.
She tied her career highs in home runs (2) and RBI (5) vs. No. 3 Georgia on April 1 in Athens.
Ranks second on the team in two-out RBI with 16.

Leads Arkansas with a 1.124 OPS.
Was named back-to-back SEC Player of the Week on March 19.
She’s the first Razorback in program history to win SEC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
The Houston native is hitting .358 with RISP.
Ellis is hitting .338 while pacing the Hogs in runs scored (36), home runs (14), RBI (47), total bases (95) and slugging percentage (.679).
Leads the team in two-out RBI with 17.
Ellis is quickly approaching 50 career home runs as she currently has 48 to her name.
Her 48 career home runs are the most nationally by a current junior or younger.
Making the most of her return to the Plains on March 17-18, Ellis slashed an astronomical .667/1.444/.692 (6-for-9) with a team-leading six hits, two home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, 13 total bases, three walks and a sacrifice fly. In the series opener vs. the Tigers Saturday, Ellis smoked a three-run home run to give the Razorbacks an early 3-0 lead in the first. In game two, Ellis jacked her then team-leading 10th home run on a solo shot to guide the Razorbacks seal the series win.

Miller Madness

Freshman catcher Kennedy Miller has quickly established herself as one of the best freshmen in the country.
Named a top-25 finalist for TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year on April 25.
Earned her first career SEC Freshman of the Week selection on March 19 following a dominant showing during Arkansas’ four-game road swing at Auburn and Texas A&M-Commerce.
In her SEC debut vs. Auburn on March 17-18, Miller put up a .545/1.091/.545 slash line across four games and paced the Hogs in hits with six and home runs with two. The Georgetown, Texas, product played flawless behind the plate with 18 putouts, three assists and zero errors. Miller recorded her second career multi-home run outing in game two against Auburn, smashing a two-run home run in the first and a solo home run in the fourth.
Leads all SEC freshmen and ranks 10th in the league with a .370 batting average.
Second on the team with a .357 batting average and third with a .420 on-base percentage.
Second on team with a 1.039 OPS.
Most home runs (8) by an Arkansas freshman since Kacie Hoffmann belted eight in 2022.
Second on team in multi-hit games with 14 this season.
Miller is hitting a team-high .425 with RISP and sitting second in hits with RISP (16). She’s fourth on the team in two-out RBI with 13.
