Hogs break school record on day one

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – Arkansas had a successful first day at the SEC Championships in both the swim and dive events.

The Hogs picked up three top-25 finishes in the three-meter dive events. Divers Regan Caufield, Grace Walker, and Malea Martinez finished 20th, 23rd, and 25th in the three-meter dive preliminary.

Arkansas also broke the school record in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:36.32.

Head Coach Neil Harper: “What a great first night! To start the meet off with a new school record in the 200 Medley Relay and a top 5 finish was so exciting and to get the NCAA B cut is a huge bonus. That gives us the ability to compete in that relay at NCAA’s, and we can play with some different lineups to potentially go faster! It was good to see the divers battle hard and score points for the team. Then our 800 free relay put together a great foursome to record the 3rd fastest time in school history. It’s a very positive first day and should give our entire team the confidence that we are competing well and ready to go!”

Diving Coach Abel Sanchez: “Today was day one of our SEC Championship. So far we’ve scored more points today than we did all championship last year. I’m proud of their accomplishments today and look forward to another food day tomorrow.”
