Hogs Close Out Regular Season with Pair of Road Matches

The Razorback volleyball team hits the road this weekend to take on No. 19 Tennessee and No. 2 Kentucky in its last two matches of the regular season.

The pair of contests will be two of the toughest for the Hogs this season, as Tennessee currently sits at No. 4 in the conference and Kentucky is on the cusp of its ninth straight SEC title with an undefeated 13-0 record in conference play.

The Razorbacks are set to play the Lady Vols first, on Friday, Nov. 14. Tennessee began the season 9-1 before entering SEC competition, in which time the Lady Vols have gone 8-5, and five of those wins have been sweeps. The Lady Vols have also been very successful at home with a 10-3 record. Tennessee ranks in the top five in the SEC in four categories: hitting percentage (second, .292), assists/set (fourth, 13.07), kills/set (fourth, 14.14), aces/set (fifth, 1.43).

The Hogs then travel to Lexington, Ky. for the regular season finale against the Wildcats on Sunday, Nov. 16. Arkansas has only defeated Kentucky in Lexington three times, the last in 2012. Three Kentucky players are in the SEC top five in their respective areas: OH Brooklyn DeLeye in kills/set (second, 4.77), S Kassie O’Brien in assists/set (third, 10.48) and Lizzie Carr in blocks/set (fourth, 1.33). DeLeye and fellow outside hitter Eva Hudson are finalists for the AVCA National Player of the Year award, and both rank within the top 20 nationally in kills/set, the only team in the country with two players in the top 20 in that area.

Both matches on the weekend will be broadcast on SEC Network+. Friday’s first serve in Knoxville is set for 5:30 p.m. and Sunday’s action in Lexington starts at noon.
