Hogs Fall to Gamecocks in SEC Opener
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback men’s tennis team fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks 4-3 on Monday in their conference opener. The Hogs are now 10-3 (0-1 SEC) on the season.
The Hogs took the doubles point. The No. 66 ranked doubles pair Jakub Vrba and Connor Smillie won against No. 86 Sean Daryabeigi and Max Stenzer, 6-4. That was followed by a win from Dmitry Kopilevich and Brendan Boland against Cole Henceroth and Atakan Karahan, 6-4.
Arkansas got two singles wins on the day. Ben Weintraub took down Paul Barbier Gazeu, 7(9)-6(7), 3-6, 6-2 and Gabriel Elicha Navas defeated Max Stenzer, 6-3, 6-1. No. 18 Jakub Vrba fell to No. 44 Lucas da Silva, 6-3, 6(5)-7(7), 4-6. Lukas Palovic fell to No. 51 Sean Daryabeigi, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Arsene Pougault lost to Gabe Avram, 6-4, 2-6, 5-7. Dimitry Kopilevich fell to Charlie Swaine 5-7, 4-6.
The Razorbacks return to action on Friday, Feb. 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Oxford, Miss.
